A unique museum dedicated to the Partition will come up in the national capital and will have an archival collection of photographs, oral as well as visual stories, and the materials people brought along during the biggest migration in human history.
A dream of veteran journalist Kuldip Nayar, the "Partition Museum Project" was inaugurated here last evening by filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt. The location for the museum is yet to be finalised.
Nayar said he thought of such a project in the 1950s to preserve the memories but it did not materialise.

"I thought of such a set-up in my twenties to commemorate the memories of people who had been displaced. But realised that wounds were too raw at that time," he said.
"Even if I would have tried to ask people to recall their memories at that time, it would have been a painstaking experience for them. But now I think it's a right to set up a museum to preserve the stories that seems to be forgotten," he said.
