Patient dies falling from hospital roof

A middle-aged unmarried woman patient died falling from the rooftop of Nephrology department of S C B Medical College and Hospital here, police said today.

While the hospital authorities are contemplating for an in-house probe into the incident, the city police have begun investigation after registering an unnatural death (UD) case in Mangalabag police station.

Hospital administrative officer B N Moharana said one Arati Jata (35) was found dead at the newly constructed building of the Nephrology department yesterday.

A native of Dhenkanal district, Arati was admitted here four days ago for kidney-related disease. An in-house probe would be ordered shortly, Moharana said.
 

Quoting her attendants, police said Arati died around in the wee hours after skidding from a parapet-less newly constructed rooftop. She had gone to the toilet on the upstairs, police said.
