Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today said the youths of Odisha need not abandon their promising sports carrier in the mid-way for livelihood now as the state government made provision of jobs for them.
Patnaik handed over appointment letters to 31 sportspersons on the basis of their achievement in sports. Interestingly, of the 31 sportspersons provided jobs in Odisha Police, 28 were women.
"This speaks the achievement of our state in the field of women empowerment," Patnaik said, adding that his government was committed to work for the betterment of sports and sportspersons.

Sources said though over 500 applications were received, 31 have been selected to get jobs in the police in the first phase. While five sportspersons will be directly appointed as sub-inspectors (SI), 25 others as constables and one as battalion sepoy.
Rosnara Parwin and Madhuri Meheta (both women cricketers), Rasmita Sahoo (kabaddi), Pratima Puhan and Pramila Prava Minz (rowing) would be appointed as SI.
The cabinet yesterday decided to appoint medal winners in Olympic and Commonwealth Games directly as deputy superintendent of police (DSP).
