Press Trust of India New Delhi
BJP national president Amit Shah today asked the newly-elected mayors of three Muncipal Corporations to work for the all-round development of Delhi.

BJP has swept the Mayor and Deputy Mayor posts in all the three municipal corporations (North, South and East), signalling its political rejuvenation in Delhi, after being reduced to a humiliating tally of three by a resurgent AAP in last Assembly polls.

Accompanied by the Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay, the new mayors Subhash Arya, Harshdeep Malhotra and Ravinder Gupta, of South, East and North municipal corporations, respectively, met Shah who felicitated them and wished them for their term.

Deputy mayors Kuldip Solanki, Asha Singh and Neelam Goel also met Shah and expressed their gratitude to the party for being given responsibilities to serve the people.

All three civic bodies have been BJP-led for past several years and the party had swept the mayoral polls last year too.

The post of Mayor sees five single-year terms on a rotation basis, with the first year being reserved for women, the second for open category, third for reserved category, and the remaining two also being in open category.

The electorate for the mayoral polls are the elected members to the respective municipal Houses, nominated members from the MLAs in the Delhi Assembly and the area MPs.
