The Allahabad High Court today asked the Uttar Pradesh government to file its reply on a petition challenging the selection of Sanil Kumar to the post of the Chairman of Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Services Selection Board.
A division bench comprising Justices Arun Tandon and A K Mishra asked the state government to reply by the next date of hearing on September 21.
The petition was filed by one Jitendra Kumar Goel who has alleged that norms have been flouted in the appointment of Kumar.

Significantly, Kumar was appointed after his predecessor Aneeta Yadav was "restrained from functioning" vide a High Court order passed on July 6 this year.
The court order had restrained Yadav, besides two other members of the Board, from functioning in their respective capacity after it was alleged in a petition that they did not fulfil the criteria for their respective posts.
