Allahabad HC seeks details of measures for hemophilia patients

The Allahabad High Court has summoned senior Uttar Pradesh officials including the principal secretary for medical education seeking details of the measures taken for hemophilia patients.

The division bench here of justices Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya and Rajan Roy passed this order on a PIL, filed by Hemophilia Society Lucknow in 2008, seeking direction for providing proper facilities and relief to the hemophilia patients, including medicines.

The court also summoned Dr AK Tripathi, head of department of Hematology, KGMU, Lucknow and Dr Anupam Verma, in-charge blood bank, SGPGIMS, Lucknow for assistance in resolving the issue.

The court directed the counsel for Banaras Hindu University (BHU) to intimate its vice chancellor about the issue involved in this petition and seek necessary instructions from him.
 

The court while fixing May 29, as the next date of hearing, directed that this order shall be communicated to the director SGPGI, vice chancellors of KGMU and BHU by Additional Advocate General Bulbul Godiyal.
