PGIMS Rohtak to soon have kidney transplant facility

The Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) would be the first government institute in Haryana which will soon have a facility of kidney transplant.

This was stated by Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij while presiding over a meeting at PGIMS, Rohtak today, an official release said here.

Vij said that doctors and students of the PGIMS would be imparted training for transplanting kidneys in AIIMS, New Delhi.

The Health Minister said that for kidney transplant, the people of the state have to visit hospitals in New Delhi or at other places, but after this facility, the people would be relieved of this problem as they could avail this facility in their own area at lesser cost.
 

Vij said that kidney transplant in any private hospital costs between Rs four and Rs five lakh whereas in PGIMS this would be done in just Rs 50,000.
