Maharashtra government today stayed the pilot project of the new pay and park policy in Mumbai's A ward, which was to come into force from February 1.

BJP MLA from Colaba in south Mumbai, Raj Purohit, said the minister of state of urban development Ranjit Patil had issued "stay and hearing" order on the directive of the Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

He also criticised the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai for announcing the policy without consulting the stake holders.

'A Ward Residents Association Action Group' had strongly opposed the policy, Purohit said, demanding its scrapping.
