Teachers should not be heckled: WB Governor

Amid reports of teachers allegedly being heckled across West Bengal in recent times, the state Governor Kesharinath Tripathi today said that such incidents are unacceptable.

"They (teachers) should not be heckled," Tripathi, also the Chancellor of most of the state universities, told media persons in reply to a question about some recent incidents of assault on teachers.

"Good relationship between teachers and students is desired," the Governor said while addressing the students at the convocation of West Bengal University of Animal and Fishery Sciences at Mohanpur in Nadia district.

Earlier, in his speech, Tripathi asked students to use their knowledge in research and development so that higher productivity can be achieved.
 

Scientists Amalesh Chowdhury and Shantanu Kr Bandopadhyay were conferred D.Sc. Degrees (Honoris Causa) at the 9th convocation of the university.

Besides, 22 students were given Ph.D. Degrees, and 161 and 119 students got graduate and post-graduate degrees.
