Plans are afoot to lease Chennai airport to private players, a top official of Airports Authority of India (AAI) said here today.
As part of proposed privatisation efforts, AAI has been asked by the civil aviation ministry to scout for private partners, AAI chairman V P Agrawal told reporters here.
Subsequently officials were looking at leasing out the city airport to private players as an option, he said.

Earlier, Minister of State for Civil Aviation K C Venugopal inspected the new terminals, days after sections of the false-ceiling fell down following a heavy downpour.
He said the problem would soon be set right.
The minister also said the new international terminal was expected to be in use in about a month.
