PMK today expelled its Puducherry state Secretary R K R Anantharaman, and another functionary from Tamil Nadu for violating party principle and discipline.

Anantharaman, who had fought the April 2014 Lok Sabha polls on PMK ticket, and Durai Chezhiyan, District Secretary of the party's Nagapttinam (North) unit have been expelled from all posts including the primary membership, PMK President G K Mani said.

They have been expelled for "violating party principles and discipline and bringing disrepute (to the party)," he said in a statement here.

The Lok Sabha elections to the lone Puducherry seat had witnessed an interesting fight, with two NDA constituents, the ruling AINRC and PMK, both fielding their candidates despite being allies.

AINRC had wrested the seat from Congress, defeating former Union Minister V Narayanasamy.
