A 25-year old alleged poacher was arrested and a country-made gun and the carcass of a peacock seized from him in a forest area in the district today, police said.
Saravanan, a local, was spotted by a team of Special Task Force police personnel on patrol duty in Kemmanaickkenpalayam in Kadambur forest range.
When they stopped and questioned him, they found him possessing the dead peacock and the gun.
He was handed over to the forest department who registered a case against him and were investigating, police added.
