Police have confiscated three trucks illegally transporting cows to Haryana and arrested four persons on Saharanpur-Delhi highway in the neighbouring Shamli district, a police official said today.
The trucks carrying 29 cows were intercepted near Kandhla town last evening, Circle Office Rajesh Tiwari said.
The four persons - all from Haryana - have been booked under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, Tiwari said.
The arrests were made after a group of activists held a protest in the area against smuggling of cows and demanded authorities to take action against people involved in it.
