The police today arrested a woman while she was allegedly trying to sell a pistol to a customer in Khandagiri area here, police said.
The police picked up the woman from an apartment at Patrapada under the jurisdiction of Khandagiri police station, the police said.
"The woman has been arrested and police is also probing her link with other persons," said Commissioner of Police Y B Khurania, adding that police has seized a pistol from her apartment.
The woman, identified as Puja Mallick was caught with a 7.65 mm pistol while she was bargaining with a potential customer, Khurania said.
The woman claimed that she was a journalist's wife, a police officer said.
A man's press identity card was also seized from the apartment.
