Policeman shot dead in Kashmir in house

A policeman was shot dead by suspected militants inside his house in Kulgam district of south Kashmir tonight, police said.

Rafiq Ahmad Mir, working as a follower, was shot by unidentified militants inside his house in Hassanpora village of the district, a police spokesman said.

He said Mir was rushed to sub-district hospital Bijbehera, where doctors declared him brought dead.

The area has been cordoned off and a manhunt launched to nab the gunmen, the spokesman said.

No militant group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
