A 25-year-old youth was killed and another was critically injured in an internecine clash at Thangadh town in Surendranagar district today, police said.
"The victim, identified as Kawabhai Koli (25) was brutally beaten up with iron pipes and sticks when members of Koli and Bharwad communities clashed. Koli was rushed to a government-run hospital in neighbouring Rajkot city where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment," a police officer said on condition of anonymity.
A case of murder has been registered against unidentified persons, he said.

The two communities have been at the loggerheads over a land dispute which erupted again today resulting in members of both the groups pelting stones at each other, police said.
"They also attacked each other with pipes and sticks in which two persons were critically injured. While one of them, Koli, died, the condition of the other is critical," the officer said, adding that two motorcycles were set on fire during the scuffle.
The situation is under control now, he said.
