The students of PMV polytechnic today blocked the Mathura-Vrindavan road here for nearly half-an-hour, protesting the shortage of teaching staff in their institute.
"The students lifted the blockade when they were assured of an early arrangement of the staff," principal of the college Anil Kumar Pandey said.
The principal had acted beyond his powers by appointing staff on contract basis.

"He (the principal) was ordered to withdraw the staff he had appointed without taking permission from the District Magistrate," City Magistrate Ram Araj Yadav said, adding that Pandey was asked to appoint the staff with the approval of the committee within three days by following the set procedure.
The magistrate said the principal could only spend Rs 5,000 for the purpose.
