Government is preparing a detailed proposal to set up Central Institute of Classical Kannada (CICK), Kannada and Culture Minister Umashree said today.
"We are preparing a detailed proposal on establishing CICK as per Central Government's direction. We will complete the process soon," she said in the Legislative Council here while replying to BJP member D Doddarange Gowda.
The government had drawn up a plan to have CICK after Mysore-based Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL) did not achieve anything substantial with regard to propagating and teaching Kannada.
There however has been a glitch over allotment of land for building CICK on a condition which is not acceptable to Karnataka. The Centre is ready to set up the institute if the state accepts CIIL's supervision.
