The mangroves and creeks of the Sundarbans have been recreated at a puja pandal here with the presiding deity at the UNESCO world heritage site, Bonbibi, having her own pedestal.
Bonbibi is worshipped by both Hindus and Muslims in the Sundarbans before going fishing, catching shrimp and honey collecting.
Bonbibi saves people from Dakhin Ray, her arch enemy who appears in the guise of a tiger.

Craftsmen from villages in South 24 Parganas, where Sundarban falls, worked for months to recreate the ambience.
"We have named the pandal Aranyak with reference to Pather Panchali writer Bibhuti Bhusan Bandyopadhyay's eponymous novel on the role of nature and human beings, based on the settings of central India," a spokesman of the BH Block Puja said.
But Sundarbans, which was facing an ecological threat, was chosen as the theme, he said.
Bollywood director Mahesh Bhatt would inaugurate the pandal tomorrow.
"Yes, he has been approached by the Durga Puja organizers," a spokesperson from Mahesh Bhatt's office said when contacted.
