Press Trust of India Amritsar
Alleging Punjab Congress chief Partap Singh Bajwa had usurped village land, three state Chief Parliament Secretaries today demanded his resignation.

Bajwa should quit both as state Congress head and as an MP as he had "fradulently grabbed Shamlat Deh (village common land)", Virsa Singh Valthoa, Harmit Singh Sandhu and Inderbir Singh Buloria told reporters here.

The Revenue department would look into the matter and a detailed probe would also be conducted, they said.

Soon the Punjab government would initiate legal action against Bajwa, the three CPSs said.

They alleged Bajwa had upsurped the land causing a huge loss to the state exchequer in terms of evasion of stamp duty.

Punjab Congress leaders here rubbished the allegations of land grab against Bajwa.

In a statement here, Punjab Congress vice-president O P Soni and other party leaders said Bajwa was open to judicial scrutiny pertaining to the land deal.
