Heavy rain accompanied by gale today affected vehicular traffic and threw normal life out of gear in the town.
Following the rains, there was water-logging at several places including the Municipal Corporation Daily Vegetable market, where rain water had entered more than 200 shops causing damage to nearly 50 percent of the vegetables that were stored, vendors said.
Business at the weekly textile shandy was also hit.
Traffic on the Kollampalayam-Railway colony junction, was affected for more than three hours due to water stagnation.
Advertisement hoardings placed at Paneerselvam park junction and the bus terminus were damaged under the impact of the gale.
