RPF IG to conduct gender sensitisation prog for rly officials

First woman Inspector General of Railway Protection Force (RPF) Jaya Singh Chauhan will conduct a day-long gender sensitisation and human rights programme for railway officials and staffers on May 22 and May 26 here.

During the programme, Chauhan will deliver lecture and presentations for Western Railway (WR) officers and staffers on May 22 while for Central railway officials, it would be held on May 26.

According to a senior Western Railways officer, the programme is a part of Railway Board's directives under which all zones and divisions of Indian Railway have been asked to conduct such programme to train officials, front office staffers who directly deal with common commuters.
 

Chauhan, who is also director of Jagjiwan Ram RPF Academy, Lucknow, will train officers and staffers on various behavioural practices on dealing with women passengers, the official added.

Senior Divisional Security Commissioner, Mumbai, a division of WR RPF said, Anand Vijay Jha said such programmes will help improve railways' image and make staffers more accountable.
