A Railway Protection Force official was today arrested here for allegedly possessing 500 grams of drugs, police said.
The accused was identified as Sumit Kumar, posted at Tapri chowki of Saharanpur district in Uttar Pradesh, SSP Harcharan Singh Bhullar said.
Kumar was arrested during checking near Ajnali village, he said.
During preliminary investigation it came to light that Kumar had allegedly smuggled the drug from Bijnor to sell it in Mandi Gobindgarh town of Amritsar, Bhullar said.
He said the railway official was booked under section 21, 22, 61 and 85 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
