Unaccounted cash amounting to Rs eight lakh was seized from a train passenger from Bihar today by railway police near Vadakara.
Two RPF constables found one Sandeep Singh (25), a native of Gaya district, travelling in Chennai Central-Mangaluru Central West Coast Express moving about in a suspicious manner as the train was running between Vadakara and Thalassery stations early this morning.
They checked his luggage and found the bundles of currency kept inside, which he could not properly account for, a press release from Southern Railway said.
The seized currency were handed over to Income Tax officials at Kannur, it said.
