Uttarakhand Congress chief Kishore Upadhyay today hailed the party's decision to field former Lok Sabha MP Pradeep Tamta as its candidate for the biennial Rajya Sabha elections from the state.
Thanking Congress president Sonia Gandhi, vice-president Rahul Gandhi and Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat for the decision, Upadhyay, in a statement here said, "We are confident that he (Tamta) will strongly raise issues related to the development of the state in the Upper House."
Remembering Tamta's stint as a member of the Lok Sabha from Almora, Upadhyay said, in the Lower House too, he had raised issues related to the state's development very strongly.
