Supreme Court today asked the CVC to file report on steps it has taken for protection of whistleblowers after the Commission was made the nodal agency for their safety in 2004 in the wake of murder of IIT-ian Satyendra Dubey.
The bench headed by Justice T S Thakur directed the CVC to file a status report giving details of action taken so far on the complaints of the whistleblowers and whether it has done independent investigation on receiving the complaints by them.
The order was passed on a PIL filed by NGO Parivartan alleging that the system that was put in place in 2004 is not working and has failed.
