School boy dies after being thrashed by teacher, probe ordered

A 10-year-old student died after being allegedly beaten-up by a teacher in Gadwar area here following which the state government has ordered a probe into the matter.

The victim boy Ramji was yesterday punished and thrashed by the teacher Vijay Ram after he failed to correctly answer a question, police said, adding the boy later died.

"A probe has been ordered in the death of Ramji," Basic Education Minister Ram Govind Chaudhary said.

Ramji was a student of IV standard at a primary school in Nawarn village in this district.

The irate villagers also held a protest outside the school after the incident.
 

District Magistrate Sharad Kumar said that a report has been sought from the basic education officer in this regard.
