A secretary in chief minister's secretariat has been removed from the post reportedly following the CBI inquiry into irregularities in MGNREGS implementation in Uttar Pradesh, official sources said here.

In a sudden move Pandhari Yadav, posted as secretary housing, was removed though no official reason was cited behind it, they said.

Yadav is alleged to be involved in the irregularities in the implementation of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) in Sonbhadra, where he was district magistrate and chief development officer from February 8, 2009 to December 22, 2011.

He was appointed as the CM secretary after Samajwadi Party government came to power.

On the directives of the Allahabad High Court the CBI has initiated a probe into alleged multi-crore MGNREGS scam in seven districts of Uttar Pradesh between 2007-2010 and lodged cases in several districts of the state.

Sonbhadra was one of the districts where the implementation of the scheme was called to question.
