Seven arrested, two panchaloha idols seized

Seven persons were today arrested and two Panchaloha idols seized from their possession at nearby Kothagiri.

Based on a tip-off that a ten-member gang was in a cottage, police surrounded it this morning.

However, seeing the police, three persons managed to escape, while the others were nabbed, police said.

Two idols, weighing eight and five kg, value of which was yet to be estimated, were seized from their possession.

Police are interrogating them whether they had any hand in the recent theft of idols in Chennai, they said.
