Sex determination racket busted

A sex determination racket has been busted here with the arrest of two doctors and a laboratory owner, police said Wednesday.

Dr Prasanthi, Dr Sreedhar and Dhanaiah, owner of the diagnostic centre, who were allegedly conducting illegal prenatal sex determination, have been nabbed, a police release fromRachakondaPolice Commissionerate said.

Police acted on a complaint about sex determination tests and selective abortions at a private hospital in Chottupal, it said.

A scanner, registers, phones and other items were seized during a raid, the release added.
