A six-year-old Chinese boy, whose ears were allegedly chopped off by his aunt with a fruit knife is set to get an artificial ear surgically implanted.
After the assault, which left wounds on his chin, the right ear of the boy from Hubei province was reattached at a hospital in Xiangyang City the day it was cut off last month.
Wang Zhiyong, the boy's father said an artificial ear will now be implanted on the boy's left side, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.

Wang said the boy's hearing has, however, not been affected.
He said the boy has been shifted to another hospital that will treat him free of charge.
Last month, after arguments with family members, the boy's aunt took the boy into an alley.
She allegedly severed his ears with a fruit knife, while leaving wounds on his chin, police said.
Zhang has been detained and investigation is under way.
