There was a marginal decrease in maximum temperatures across Punjab and Haryana today, but hot weather conditions continued to prevail in the region.
In Punjab, Amritsar recorded a maximum temperature of 39.8 deg C, two notches below the normal, a MeT report here said.
Ludhiana and Patiala recorded maximum temperatures of 40.5 deg C and 40 deg C, respectively.

In Haryana, Hisar sizzled at a high of 43 deg C, three notches above the normal. Narnaul, Karnal and Ambala, however, recorded below normal maximum temperatures of 39 deg C, 37.8 deg C and 39.2 deg C, respectively.
The maximum temperature in Chandigarh also witnessed a slight drop today, settling at 38.5 deg C, one notch below the normal.
The MeT department has predicted light to moderate rain or thundershowers at isolated places in Haryana and Punjab over the next two days.
