Special package for Mathura: Sharma

The Centre has decided to give a special package for development of pilgrim places in Mathura, while focussing on "Brij Chaurasi Kos Parikrama", a 252 kilometre pilgrimage or 'yatra' taken in the district by lord Krishna devotees round the year.

"Union government, has decided to give special package to Brij Chaurasi Kos Parikrama, under Krishna circuit," Union Minister for Tourism Mahesh Sharma said while talking to reporters in Goverdhan town yesterday.

The package would ensure comprehensive development of Brijbhumi. The decision was taken considering the sanctity of the region and to boost religious tourism in this part of the state.
 

"Besides development of Mathura, Vrindaban and Goverdhan, the package would ensure development of Brij Chaurasi Kos Parikrama", he said, adding that after every five kilometers, the facility of a guest house and public convenience would be provided.

According to Sharma, special plan is on the cards for the development of Varanasi and Kurukshetra also.

Earlier, the minister paid his obeisance to the principal deity Giriraj Ji at Daan-Ghati temple.
