A teenager was crushed to death by a speeding truck on SH 65 Rupauli-Kursela road under Tikapatti police station area of Bihar's Purnea district today, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Rajesh alias Jichho Yadav (16), Tikapatti police station SHO Nand Kishore Yadav said adding that the deceased was the resident of Teldiha village of the district and was set to appear for the matriculation examination from tomorrow.
The incident occurred barely 300 meters away from Tikapatti police station on Rupauli-Kursela road (SH 65), when the deceased was going to collect ration from a PDS dealer at Teldiha village on his bicycle, the SHO said adding that the boy was killed on the spot.
Angry local villagers blocked the State Highway 65 Rupauli-Kursela road in protest against the incident for four hours, he said adding that they were demanding payment of adequate compensation to the deceased's family.
Later, the blockade was lifted after the officials' intervention, the SHO said and added that the truck has been seized while its driver managed to escape.
