A suspended policeman, who had shot at and injured an official here yesterday after a tiff, was arrested today in Kishanganj district.

Katihar Superintendent of Police Siddharth Mohan Jain said the suspended Assistant Sub-Inspector Zakir Hussain, who had fled after opening fire at SHO of Sudhani police station Rakesh Raman, was arrested by Kishenganj police this morning and sent to Katihar.

Hussain was being interrogated and he has claimed that Raman had been using foul language while talking to him for quite some time. Last night, things reached a flashpoint as he took out his service revolver and opened fire, Jain said adding that the weapon has also been seized.

Raman had received the gunshot in his arm.

Hussain was suspended recently following a public agitation in December last year wherein locals had accused him of having wrongfully detained one person.

The SP said Hussain had also been suspecting that a complaint by the SHO had led to his suspension and hence the ASI had been nursing a grouse against Raman.
