Spurned youth attacks woman; arrested

A jilted youth today allegedly attacked a young woman with a sharp weapon and injured her, after she married another man despite getting engaged to the former, police said.

The accused, Raju, was arrested and booked on charge of attempt to murder following a complaint, they said.

Raju attacked the woman, a nurse, with a sickle on her back near a bus stop in Kandukur area on the outskirts of the city after noticing her there with her husband, they said.

Raju and the woman had been engaged on February 6. However, the woman went on to marry her lover yesterday and this apparently angered Raju, a police officer told PTI.
 

The woman was rushed to hospital and her condition was stable, police added.
