Sugar eases on poor offtake

Sugar prices fell marginally in listless trading at the Vashi wholesale market here today due to lack of buying from stockists and retailers.,

Small sugar (S-30) moved down by Rs 4 per quintal to finish at Rs 2,970/3,042 from overnight closing level of Rs 2,970/3,046.

Medium sugar (M-30) also softened by Rs 3 per quintal to settle at Rs 3,050/3,222 against Rs 3,050/3,225 previously.

Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 2,970/3,042 (Rs 2,970/3,046).

Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 3,050/3,222 (Rs 3,050/3,225).
