Sugar ends lower on higher supply, subdued demand

Sugar prices fell by Rs 10 per quintal at the wholesale sugar market today following increased supplies from mills amid subdued demand from bulk consumers.

Marketmen said large stocks position due to persistent supplies amid low demand from stockists and bulk consumers mainly kept pressure on prices of the sweetener.

Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 prices enquired lower at Rs 2,720-2,920 and Rs 2,710-2,900 from Rs 2,720-2,930 and Rs 2,710-2,900 per quintal.

Similarly, mill delivery M-30 and S-30 traded lower at Rs 2,600-2,780 and Rs 2,590-2,760 instead of Rs 2,610-2,780 and Rs 2,600-2,760 per quintal.

In the millgate section, prices of Asmoli, Dorala, Dhanora, Modinagar, Ramala, Morana and Sakoti eased by Rs 10 each to settle at Rs 2,740, Rs 2,655, Rs 2,630, Rs 2,645, Rs 2,630, Rs.2,640 and Rs 2,630 per quintal.

Sugar retail markets - Rs 31.00-34.00 per kg.

Sugar ready: M-30 Rs 2,720-2,920 S-30 Rs 2,710-2,900.

Mill delivery: M-30 Rs 2,600-2,780 S-30 Rs 2,590-2,760.

Sugar mill gate (including duty): Mawana Rs 2,660, Kinnoni Rs 2,780, Asmoli Rs 2,740, Dorala Rs 2,645, Budhana Rs 2,660, Thanabhavan Rs 2,650, Dhanora Rs 2,630, Simbholi Rs 2,765, Modi Nagar Rs 2,645, Khatuli Rs 2,780, Dhampur 2,670, Ramala Rs 2,630, Bulandshahr Rs N.T., Anupshahr Rs 2,610, Baghpat Rs 2,640, Morna Rs 2,640, Sakoti Rs 2,630, Chandpur Rs 2,610, Nazibabad Rs 2,620.
