Sugar falls on lower demand, good supply

Both medium and small variety sugar prices fell at the Vashi wholesale market here today on sustained selling by stockists amid lower demand on the back of adequate supply position.

Medium sugar (M-30) dropped by Rs 16 per quintal to Rs 3,100/3,226 from Thursday's closing level of Rs 3,100/3,242.

Small Sugar (S-30) slid by Rs 2/12 per quintal to Rs 2,950/3,040 as against Rs 2,962/3,042.

Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 2,950/3,040 (Rs 2,962/3,042).

Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 3,100/3,226 (Rs 3,100/3,242).
