Sugar up on consistent demand

Prices of both varieties of sugar firmed up further at the Vashi wholesale market today due to consistent upcountry demand amidst ample arrivals from millers.

Small sugar (S-30) advanced by Rs 12/20 per quintal to Rs 3,142/3,222 from Monday's closing level of Rs 3,130/3,202.

Medium sugar (M-30) moved up by Rs 4 per quintal to Rs 3,206/3,382 as against Rs 3,202/3,382 previously.

Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 3,142/3,222 (Rs 3,130/3,202.

Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 3,222/3,382 (Rs 3,206/3,382).
