Sugarcane grown on encroached sanctuary land seized

Sugarcane crop worth Rs 5 crore grown on alleged encroached land of the Hastinapur sanctuary in the district has been seized by the authorities, a senior government official said today.

The crop worth Rs 5 crore has been seized by the district authority, District Magistrate Koshal Raj Sharma told reporters here today.

It will be sold to a local sugar mill and the money received from the sale will be deposited in the government account, he said.

The DM said unauthorised possession of 700 bigha government land in Hastinapur sanctuary worth crore of rupees has been discovered by the district authorities.
 

Police has registered several cases of cheating, damage of government property and other crimes under the Forest Act.

Three revenue clerks have been arrested in this connection so far.

Two revenue clerks Jai Bhagwan and Shiv Kumar were arrested yesterday, while another one was arrested earlier.
