The secretary of Uttar Pradesh teachers' union has been booked for allegedly threatening a District Inspector of School and extorting Rs one lakh from him, police said here today.
A case of threatening and extortion have been registered against accused Ravi Bharat Chikara, the serving secretary of Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shikshak Sangh (UPMSS), at Thana Medical police station, SHO Umesh Pachauri said.
According to police, Chikara visited the residence of District Inspector of School (DIOS), Anil Kumar Mishra, in Pandav Nagar area yesterday and demanded an amount of Rs one lakh from him.

The investigation in the matter is underway and the accused will be arrested if charges are proved against him, he said.
Refuting charges, Chikara said that he had paid visit to Mishra's house regarding an old DIOS case, which is under consideration in High Court.
Chikara claims to have met Mishra regarding a case where he was expelled from college's Managing committee over alleged physical fight with a school inspector.
