Ten Maoists who had laid down arms last year in West Midnapore district were given a financial package by the superintendent of police at a programme here.
Rupees 50,000 in cash and fixed deposit certificates of Rupees two lakh each were given to the Maoists yesterday as part of their rehabilitation package for wanting to join the mainstream, SP Bharati Ghosh said.
A monthly allowance of Rs 4000 would be given to them till they got a job in the Homeguard, she said.

Of the ten former ultra Left cadre, six hailed from West Midnapore district and the rest from Jhargram police district, she said.
The former Maoists who were active in Jangal Mahal till a few years ago were lodged in policelines after they had surrendered last year.
