The Thane district treasury office has launched a 'bill portal' to avoid delay in payment of bills of various government departments.
The portal will save the time gap between the issuance of a bill by a department, its verification and clearance by the treasury.
Now the concerned office has to just provide details of the bill and the agency to whom it is to be paid, and the process would be expedited with the help of the website, treasury officer N N Pathak said.
The treasury office has also developed a 'stamp module' under which all records of stamps and stamp papers sold are maintained online, he said.
The department is planning to undertake some more innovative measures that make its operations easy, he added.
