A court here has sentenced three persons to life imprisonment for the murder of a 7-year-old girl in Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh.
Additional District Judge Manoj Kumar Rai sentenced Abhimanyu Sharma, his wife Meera and sister Usha to life imprisonment yesterday for murdering Beenu in 2011 and also imposed a fine of Rs 40,000 on each of them.
Avdhesh Upadhaya, the victim's father had registered an FIR against the three convicts. He had also complained against Sharma's mother, Parmeshwari Devi.
Upadhaya alleged that his daughter was last seen with the convicts before she went missing while playing outside her house, the prosecution said, adding Beenu's body was recovered a day after from a village well in Satpara.
Parmeshwari Devi died during the course of the trial, the prosecution said.
