Three booked under PSA in Valley

Jammu and Kashmir government has booked three persons including the president of Auqaf Committee Bogam in Kulgam district under the Public Safety Act(PSA), officials said today.

Fayaz Ahmad Rather, president of the Auqaf committee Bogam village, was arrested last week in connection with case registered against him under various of the penal code including section 307 (attempt to murder) RPC, the officials said.

The Auqaf committee looks after and manages mosques, madrasas and other religious institutions in the state.

Rather, who had participated in the funeral prayers of slain Lashkar-e-Toiba commander Abu Qasim, was booked under PSA yesterday, they said.
 

According to the dossier against Rather, he found involved in anti-national activities by instigating youth into stone throwing incidents.

Similarly, two youths from Shopian district were also booked under the PSA after being arrested in connection with stone throwing incidents.
