Three firing incidents reported in UP

Three incidents of firing were reported as a result of enmity between the supporters of winning and loosing candidates of the Uttar Pradesh Gram Panchayat polls, police said today.

In village Kason of Kotwali Bagwala, more than two dozen rounds were fired after a clash broke out yesterday between the supporters of elected village Pradhan Nagendra Singh and a defeated candidate Yogesh Kumar, they said.

Singh with his supporters was having a victory procession near Kumar's house creating an atmosphere of fear and panic in the village, police said.

The villagers later reported the incident to the police following which station officer of Kotwali Bagwala arrived on scene and as many as 12 people were arrested.
 

An FIR has been lodged in connection with the case and the accused have been booked under IPC section 307 (attempt to murder), Station officer of Kotwali Bagwala Jasweer Singh said.

In a similar incident, several rounds of fire were exchanged yesterday following a heated argument between the supporters of one Laljeet Singh, who was a defeated candidate and the winning party in village Magresar of Kotwali Jaithera in the district, police said.

Police have lodged an FIR in this connection but no arrests have been made so far.

In the third incident, unidentified persons attacked the house of one Deepak Kumar and vandalised the vehicles outside his residence in Yadgarpur village under Mirechi police station, police said.

An FIR against the accused Amar Singh and other people of the village in this connection has been lodged but no arrests have been made in the case yet, they said.
