A gang of jewelry thieves was arrested today fromWest Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh with booty worth Rs 23 lakhs, police said.
The three members of the gang --D Manikanta (26), D Satyanarayana (24) and Shaik Shafi (32)--were arrested at Palakollu in West Godavari," Narsapuram DSP Sowmya Latha said.
The trio was arrested on a tip that the accused were selling the stolen gold and silver ornaments. The gang had already sold off some part of the looted booty in Rajahmundhry was trying to get rid of the rest in Veeravasaram and Narsapuram, she said.

The arrested thieves are involved in various dacoities in East and West Godavari districts, she said.
Police has registered a case and further investigations are on.
