The internal committee formed by Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee, to look into reasons behind reverses in a few constituencies, today submitted its report.

"The report has been submitted to the party leadership. It is confidential and will not be made public as of now. But in this report two to three districts have been identified where infighting took a toll on our poll prospects. The matter will be discussed within the party," a senior TMC leader said.

After coming to power by registering a massive victory, Mamata had formed a committee on May 25 to look into reasons behind the party's defeat in certain constituencies especially of eight ministers of the previous government.

The committee, which comprised senior TMC leaders Mukul Roy, Partha Chatterjee, Subrata Bakshi, Subrata Mukherjee and others, submitted the report today.

During an internal party meeting on May 25, Mamata had said TMC, which won 211 seats, could have got 10-12 seats more had there been no infighting.

The eight ministers who lost are Krishnendu Narayan Chowdhury, Chandrima Bhattacharya, Manish Gupta, Sankar Chakraborty, Sabitri Mitra, Abdul Karim Chowdhury, Shyamapada Mukherjee and Upendranath Biswas.
