TN fishermen detained by Lankan navy

Sri Lankan naval personnel tonight detained an unspecified number of fishermen from here along with their ten boats near the Lankan territory.

The fishermen were detained when they were fishing near Talaimannar, police said.

It was not immediately known how many fishermen were in the boats, though normally four go in a boat, they said.

A total of 734 boats put out to sea from here this morning and of this about 60 had gone as far as Talaimannar in search of fish and of them ten had been detained, police said.
